Amaravati is a Theravada Buddhist monastery situated at the eastern end of the Chiltern Hills in south-east England. It is near the Hertfordshire village of Great Gaddesden. The nearest towns are Hemel Hempstead and Berkhamsted.
The Amida Trust is a registered charity in the UK whose aims are to spread the dharma. They particularly support the Amida School of Pureland Buddhism. The Amida community also encompasses a wide and creative network of spiritually inclined ordinary people from many orientations. Out of this rich diversity has arisen devotional, inspirational, educational, social, community, campaigning, and cultural projects.
Amitabha Buddhist Centre is the regional college for Buddhist study, meditation and retreat for the South West of England around Bristol. The Centre is a member of the New Kadampa Tradition – The International Kadampa Buddhist Union.
IES was established in 1990 at the Bhaktivedanta Manor Temple in Hertfordshire. Twenty years later, we now have five centres. Last year we reached well over 400 schools and more than 30,000 pupils and students. Whilst Glastonbury has a well established Tourist Information Centre, the growing number of visitors interested in the spiritual aspects of the town led to an awareness that a centre specialising in informing and supporting ‘pilgrim’ visitors would be of value. In 2007, a group of passionate and interested people came together and formed a properly constituted Association. Glastonbury Pilgrim Reception Centre, an organisation supportive of all faiths and beliefs first opened its doors at 1a Church Lane in 2008. In 2009, it moved to its current location at 10b High Street.

The Library of Avalon is, to its Trustees’ knowledge, the only publicly-accessible esoteric library in the UK, perhaps even in Europe, but is not the only one in the world – there is a similar organisation in America. It is supported entirely by donations and by the subscriptions of its borrowing members.

Samye Ling is a monastery and international centre of Buddhist training, known for the authenticity of its teachings and tradition. It offers instruction in Buddhist philosophy and meditation within the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. Shekinashram is an ashram located in Glastonbury that stands in the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition, founded on the paths of devotion and action (bhakti and karma yogas) and committed to the principles of truthful and peaceful living. Throssel Hole Buddhist Abbey is a monastery and retreat centre devoted to the practice of meditation within the Serene Reflection Meditation Tradition of Buddhism (Soto Zen).
