|Purpose of Community:||Manchester Buddhist Centre is one of the largest urban Buddhist places of worship in Europe, offering meditation, study and community.
Clear Vision makes DVD and online video materials for Buddhism in the RE classroom and runs the MBC’s schools’ service. Both are run by members of the Triratna Buddhist Order.
|Facilities:||Cafe, health centre, two meditation halls, gift and bookshop, pain management project, education services.|
|Access:||We welcome visitors with special needs of any kind and have years of experience working with groups with learning or physical disabilities.
There is a disabled-accessible toilet on the ground floor and our lift gives internal lift access to all floors, including the cafe. However, pending funding, we regret there is no alternative to the six steps up to the front door, with handrails both sides.
Disabled ParkingThere are spaces for Blue Badge-users in Turner Street and Brick Street, both facing the Buddhist Centre front door.
Both shrine rooms are equipped with loop systems for hearing aid-users.
|Requirements:||It is customary to remove shoes to enter the meditation hall. If this would cause you pain or difficulty, please keep your shoes on.|
|Practical Tips:||If you wish to sit on mats and cushions on the floor in our shrine halls, please wear clothing which will enable you to sit comfortably.|
|Suitability:||Primary schools/Secondary schools/University students|
