Visiting Religious Communities with School Children

Many, but not all of the communities on this website welcome school visits as well as university students. For useful guidance on visiting sacred spaces and religious communities with children, visit the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom website:

For further resources, including a podcast about taking children and young people on visits to sacred places, and for a useful range of case studies involving school students of all ages and PGCE students, visit the RE Online website.

Farmington Worship Project

Sue Rodford of St Julian’s School, Wellow, near Bath, was awarded a Farmington Fellowship to produce a number of resources to help primary school teachers and children make the most of visits to places of worship.

This first example offers advice to teachers for planning visits to Places of worship, including etiquette for day visitors. The second is a learning resource for visiting the Progressive Synagogue in Bristol.
